FM Zarif, Georgian PM discuss expansion of bilateral cooperation

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, in a meeting in Tbilisi on Tuesday, discussed further enhancement of relations between Iran and Georgia.

During the meeting, the Georgian prime minister referred to his next week visit to Iran, and said Tbilisi is ready to cooperate with Tehran in all areas.

Noting that the two countries cannot improve economic relations without banking cooperation, Kvirikashvili urged the need for normalization of banking interactions.

He also underlined the necessity of cooperation in the area of solar energy.

The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, said that Iran is ready to cooperate with Georgia in banking, agricultural, water, construction and tourism sectors.

Zarif referred to the waterway from Persian Gulf to Black Sea, and said once implemented the waterway will bring regional countries further closer together and will reduce transfer costs.
