Outcomes of Minister for Economic and Finance Affairs official visit to Vienna

Ambassador Kazem Gharib Abadi, Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna, shared the outcomes of the two-day visit of the Iranian Minister of Economic and Finance Affairs.

During the 40th Session of the OPEC Fund for International Development’s (OFID) Ministerial Council, Dr. Dejpasand has been elected as it's Chairman for the period of one year. The most important outcomes of this session were the adoption of general principles of a new strategy and the approach for supporting developing countries, especially low-income countries.

Adding that Dr. Dejpasand met with his Counterparts from Iraq, Algeria and Kuwait on the sidelines of the meeting and discussed the development of bilateral economic relations and cooperation, Ambassador Gharib Abadi has mentioned that meeting with Dr. Al-Khalifa, Director General of OFID was also on the schedule of the Minister for Economic and Financial Affairs, where parties discussed methods to develop OFID’s effectiveness and directing its resources to low-income countries and prevention of possible future challenges. Director General Al-Khalifa was invited by Dr. Dejpasand to pay a visit to Iran in the near future.

Another aim of the Iranian Minister for Economic and Finance Affairs visit to Vienna was to meet Mr. Li Yong, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). In this meeting, the parties discussed the necessity of designing an evolutionary strategic plan for Iran-UNIDO relations with the aim of using all specialized capacities of this Organization as well as other countries and financial institutions in mutual projects. It was agreed in principle to clarify the extent of these cooperation during the next visit of the Director-General of UNIDO to Iran in the framework of a memorandum of understanding.

Meetings with the Governor of the Austrian National Bank, Iranian Experts employed in international organizations based in Vienna, and Iranian business activists, were among the programs of the Minister of Economic and Finance Affairs.
