Kazem Gharib Abadi, on the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) recent report: To ensure the maintenance of JPCOA, the remaining members should guarantee Irans benefits.

The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations and International Organizations in Vienna stated that the Director General of the IAEA’s new report reaffirms the Islamic Republic of Iran’s full commitments to the JPCOA while pointing out the country’s latest decisions.

Kazem Gharib Abadi recalled the 15th report of the IAEA Director General on the implementation of the JPCOA, a sign of the goodwill of the Islamic Republic of Iran to maintain multilateralism in international relations and a testimony to its compliance with its international obligations.

Like the previous 14 reports, this report confirms the agency has been monitoring and proofing Iran’s implementation of its obligations according to the JPCOA since the beginning.

He also stated that the new report explicitly refers to the latest order of Iran’s National Security Council  in terms of suspending some of ongoing actions in the framework of Articles 26 and 36. The report also highlights the resumption of heavy water production at Arak Complex from 1 June, after a two month maintenance period.

Adding that the cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the IAEA at this stage, along with the past, is on a constructive path, he emphasized that however, it is clear that the parties have not taken concrete and practical steps to fulfill their obligations which has endangered the fate of the JPCOA.

He continued: "The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to take the steps announced in its recent decision and, as repeatedly stated, full and honest implementation of the obligations of all parties is a essential for the continuation of the JPCOA. If we want the JPCOA to continue, the remaining members should guarantee Iran’s benefits by taking immediate and appropriate measures during the announced timeline.”
